Mrs. Joy Slates To All Instructors
Joy Slates and her husband, Stephen, have been married for 25 years and are blessed with six children ranging in age from three to twenty. For the past 14 years, Joy has been dedicated to home educating her children and has been actively involved in three homeschool communities. During this time, she taught an elementary-aged class for three years, focusing on the education of her younger two children.
Before starting her family, Joy earned a Master’s in Social Work and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She worked for five years, splitting her time between a faith-based nonprofit Refugee Resettlement organization and another faith-based nonprofit as an Individual and Family Therapist. These experiences instilled in her a deep commitment to supporting families and fostering meaningful connections.
Joy enjoys a variety of hobbies, including cooking, baking, reading, listening to podcasts, attending arts and crafts fairs, and thrifting. She finds joy in bringing creativity and inspiration into her daily life, which she shares with her family and homeschooling community.
She is passionate about nurturing a love for learning, encouraging creativity, and walking alongside other families in their homeschooling journeys.
